Global Spatial and Temporal Variation of the Combined Effect of Aerosol and Water Vapour on Solar Radiation

This study aims to calculate the combined and individual effects of optical thickness aerosols (AOT) precipitable water vapour (PWV) on solar radiation reaching Earth’s surface at a global scale analyse its spatial temporal variation. For that purpose, novel but validated methodology is applied CERES SYN1deg products for period 2000–2019. Spatial distributions AOT PWV effects, both individually combined, show close link with PWV. The spatially averaged effect results in ?13.9% reduction irradiance, while average ?2.3%, ?12.1%. analysis focuses detecting trends anomalies. overall positive Consequently, significant negative are found effects.
